Greenfield, Botetourt Co, VA 10/29/2008

Greenfield is an interesting area that has industry and open spaces with green ways. It is off 220 across from Ashley Plantation. From there you can see some colors on the mountains in the distance.

Contrast 10/29/2008

This picture was not taken because the subject was particularly beautiful, but rather because the contrast of the extremely dark cloud behind the subject and the bright sunshine on the subject really caught my eye. This was one of several blustery days in a row. This particular afternoon brought heavy cloud cover to one area while leaving the sky clear setting the stage for the contrast.

While sitting in Salem's Football Stadium 10 27 2008

Although we had a blast socializing while we waited for the main event (for hours) I really wanted to take some fall PICS. It was a chilly day, but very pretty. There are a lot of man made objects cluttering these, but the mountains were to pretty to leave un-photographed! (is that a word? Oh well.) The power lines almost look like a giant spiderweb meticulously draped across the mountain.

From the Godwin Cemetery Hill, Fincastle, VA 10/21/2008

In Fincastle, off Church Street and just next to and behind the Methodist Church, there is the Godwin Cemetery. From the hill in the cemetery the views are breathtaking. Monday night I drove up the hill on my way home (we usually walk but I was loosing light). While taking pictures of our home (The former Fincastle Baptist Church) I not only noticed that my zoom lens allowed me to see the American Flag we have on the bell tower, I can see the ghost Bob has hung for Halloween and you cannot even tell the building is on Main Street! Until you zoom in and the power lines appear, from this vantage point you would not think of the church being in a town at all! Fincastle church and Town Hall steeples are a symbol for the town. I have captured not only the former Baptist church (our home) I've also captured the Methodist Church and the Episcopal Church in one PIC, the Town Hall and the Presbyterian Church.
