Independence Day 2009!

Fincastle Virginia does many things well; one of these things is a spctacular fireworks display. It sprinkled a bit prior to the event. You would never have known from the number of people gathered to enjoy! I took well in excess of 600 pictures. I will only post a few here.

Thomas Jefferson Parkway

On Rt 53 in Virginia between Monticello and Ash Lawn there is a picturesque little church. This April while passing this intersection I found it too pretty not to photograph. The flowering trees are across the street next to the small store. I hope you find it as pretty as do I.

VMI New New Barracks

Where Lejeune Hall once stood at Virginia Military Institute now stands the newest section of barracks. It is odd to see the old building gone. Even more amazing is the fact that the newest section of barracks looks like the old ones!

Annual Kite Festival At Green Hill Park in Salem, VA

Every year kite enthusiasts gather at Green Hill Park in Salem, VA. This was the first year I was able to join my brother-in-law and his family (and theirs) to enjoy the festival. When I arrived there were many participants just waiting for the wind to kick up. It was fascinating that the minute a breeze began kites popped into the sky. Just as swiftly the breeze would die and the kites would land. I was able to get some really nice shots of some kites. A few were quite large!

More Spring in Botetourt

Daffodils along 220 in Botetourt
